The evidence protocol
Every new published field note passes the same gates. Legacy work stays available, but it stays labeled until it passes them too.
Prefer primary evidence
Specifications, filings, papers, repositories, and first-party records outrank commentary about them.
Cross-check disputed facts
Material claims get an independent second source when the evidence is contested or consequential.
Separate dates
Published, modified, and last verified are different timestamps because prose and truth age differently.
Declare uncertainty
Unknown is a valid state. Fluency is never used to conceal a missing source.
Expose provenance
Readers get the source list, verification state, source tier, and machine-readable metadata.
Correct without erasing
Material corrections are visible and dated. The archive is not silently laundered.
Primary
Original paper, specification, filing, code, dataset, transcript, or first-party statement.
Independent
Credible reporting or analysis that verifies, contextualizes, or challenges primary material.
Discovery only
Aggregators, social posts, and search snippets may locate evidence. They do not carry a claim alone.
